Lose Weight Fast
Why does everyone want to lose weight fast?? It is almost as if they believe that once they have lost their weight life can revert back to normal eating. Unfortunately that just isn’t the case.
Anybody wanting to lose weight fast needs to make sure that their diet will support their body during the weight loss process. That means following a diet that enables you to lose 2lb of fat per week and encourages the conversion of fat into lean muscle.
It is very important to realise that if you lose weight fast it is more than likely that you will lose lots of weight in the first week to ten days then put half of it back on again because basically you are following a fad diet that isn’t sustainable.
The most sensible way to lose weight fast is to lose weight consistently. Apart from the fluid you will inevitably lose in the first week you should be aiming to lose a regular 2lb a week. This way your body will have a chance to adjust to your new weight and you will be more likely to maintain your weight loss.
Low carb diets have been popular because to begin with you lose weight fast and this immediately gives you a boost, but it is not fat you are losing it is water. If you continue with the low carb diet you don’t get the carbs you need and your body thinks it is starving.
Your body then goes into starvation mode. First your metabolism slows down. You burn fewer calories and less fat. Secondly you get tired. Thirdly your body starts to burn its own muscle tissue for energy. You reach the inevitable plateau, you don’t lose weight fast like you did at the beginning, and the chances are you just don’t lose any more weight. The result is that you become disillusioned and discouraged.
Your body will start to consume some of its own muscle for energy and so your ability to burn fat and lose weight fast has become weaker than it was before you started to diet.
So as you can see it is not a simple matter. In fact it is not even wise to try to lose weight fast and certainly not by cutting down on the carbs that are essential to your body for normal functioning.
You need wake up your metabolism by eating the correct type of foods such as Low Glycemic Index (GI) foods. Your body gets the fuel it needs for energy and so the cravings stop and you feel alive again. GI foods keep your blood sugar levels steady and your insulin levels lower so that fat is not stored it is burned, enabling you to lose weight at a steady dependable rate
It is more beneficial to lose 2lb a week for 8 weeks totalling 16lb than to lose 10 lb in 2 weeks and then start to put it back on again because you can’t sustain the diet.
